Chiemsee-Chiemgau
Castles & monasteries, alpine pastures & lakes, beer and enjoyment: Chiemgau has been one of Germany's most popular vacation regions for decades for good reason. However, there is not much left of the former "summer retreat": 5-star vacation farms, top chefs, golf courses and idyllically situated chalets fulfill the vacation dreams of today's guests.
Highlights in the region
Chiemsee-Chiemgau
Even Leopold Mozart liked to stop off in Chiemgau - because of the delicious beer. Meanwhile, his son, Wolferl, composed a few offertories for Seeon Monastery. The "Mozart organ" still stands there today. This combination of the art of brewing and high culture, culinary and cultural enjoyment is what makes Chiemgau so attractive to this day. The landscape - the large Chiemsee lake against the silhouette of the Chiemgau Alps - is not only a popular photo motif, but also a popular terrain for anyone who likes to exercise: on a bike, with hiking boots or skis, in a kayak or SUP, on the golf course or on a walk to the nearest beer garden. You can even do this on the island of Herrenchiemsee. If you walk once around the island from the Dampfersteg, you will have well and truly earned a snack in the beer garden after almost ten kilometers.
